Black Friday has turned from a single shopping day to a month long event filled with overlapping sales and complicated “retail-speak.”

Walmart’s challenge was getting people to shop throughout a 6-week period with changing messaging and rotating deals in a way that made sense—and left them wanting more.

Deals of Desire is a 10-part dramatic miniseries featuring walmart black friday deals in our audience’s favorite genres from soaps to westerns to historical dramas. my role included art direction in storytelling through the scripts, set design & props and through editing, coloring and finishing.

iconic actors and cliffhanger endings kept viewers coming back for new episodes—and new deals.

“Holiday shopping at Walmart
is about to get dramatic.”

from soaps to supernaturals we went back in time to find more deals and drama in our 2-part historical episode.

meanwhile on to the baker ranch, where the infamous baker brothers are up to something again.

as the show went on, socials heated up with a behind-the-scenes look at the deals of desire set. production assistant jake shane gave us an inside look at the making of the campaign and what it’s reallyyyyyy like to work on set.

the epic saga ends in a 3-part finale of explosive proportions as we move to badger stadium, where coach diggs and coach murray are trying to rally their football team, and the deals.

creating premium branded content was the first step toward success for the ‘deals of desire’ campaign. we also wanted consumers to retain deals messaging and shop deals online at the right times. as a result, walmart’s black friday sales increased by a record-breaking 5%. with over 5 billion impressions from the campaign, walmart became the #1 most searched retailer at the time and increased cyber monday website traffic by 31%. also, i got to meet some of my fav celebs. so a win, win really.

each week we rolled out new episodes, starting with a soap opera pilot featuring dramatic plot twists and dramatic deals.
